Message Look in auth.py and at the register.py parts of current.
Patches against 1.4.4 if sane might be applied. (Johns estimate of when
*I* had planned to tackle authentication were correct, but if thats your
itch, I'll at least look at the patches.)

I know one site found a 4 line patch or so that was a) ugly, and b)
effective. It was too gruesome to add to the tree, but it worked (and
works) for them.

As far as charging, web services are a hole in the GPL. (IE, you can
change gforge from hell to sunday, charge for the service, and need
never let the users have the source (or anyone else for that matter.))

I will state this - current is and will remain GPL. However, if you make
patches to current, I would expect to see them and at least have the
chance to offer others that functionality. Charging or not. That, to me,
is the spirit if not the letter of the GPL. And this is the last email
on licensing. I'm invoking authors privledge and ending all discussion
on that topic right there.

Discussion on auth and such are welcome.
