Message I am having the same problems. I took your advice and down-graded mod_python
to what is shipped in RH9 (on both the server and client), but I still get
the same errors when running up2date from the client:

# up2date --download logwatch

It was a problem in the 3.0.0 (not really 3.0, but a sort of patched
snapshot) that was in RHL 8.

My suspicion is that its a regress, either in redhats mod_python or
mod_python itself.

But you would be the first to prove it, since I don't have RHEL
available here. (I'm gonna test with WBEL this weekend...)
