I have fixed this by modifying the DB manually. In my first try, I
had two exactly the same packages in both dirs. After I removed
the duplicates, the scan_channel kept failing, because the DB still
had the old reference and created the wrong symlink in getPackage.

So, after this exercise I have the following questions now:

- Does this also mean you cannot remove packages from a dir and let
   the DB forget it?

- There should be a way to del_dir and del_channel, so that you can
at least cleaning up the DB without digging into it.

- I have seen often that I had to restart Apache, because after a
failure mod_python keeps open idle connections and every client
   access hangs after that.

Cheers,
