That's best for me at least - I use wget to mirror the updates, which
sometimes brings down various bits of cruft into the directory.

1.4 ignored files that rpmlib couldn't open correctly. I propose the
same treatment for 1.5

(It did print a warning)

OK, thanks, solved, stupid me for not looking in current.log.

But the error is interesting: there was a TRANS.TBL file in the dir,
as the dir was created as the union of the RH CD set.

This will happen to more people, I think, so what about (a) ignoring
files that do not appear to have rpm file contents or (b) specify a
file glob for the dir (default: "*.rpm").

Message Hi,

When I have a small channel, Current 1.5.4 scans it fine. When the
directory is larger (e.g., a complete RH distro), I get when doing
a "cadmin scan_channel":

SSL exception (-1, 'Unexpected EOF')
SSL exception (-1, 'Unexpected EOF')
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/local/sbin/cadmin", line 132, in ?
    main()
  File "/usr/local/sbin/cadmin", line 125, in main
    scan_channels(sys.argv[2:])
  File "/usr/local/sbin/cadmin", line 63, in scan_channels
    result = rpcServer.doCall(server.cadmin.scanChannels, chan)
  File "rpcServer.py", line 114, in doCall
  File "/usr/lib/python2.2/xmlrpclib.py", line 821, in __call__
    return self.__send(self.__name, args)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/rhn/rpclib.py", line 126, in _request
    verbose=self._verbose
  File "/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/rhn/transports.py", line 153, in request
    return self.parse_response(fd)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/rhn/transports.py", line 172, in parse_response
    p.close()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.2/xmlrpclib.py", line 393, in close
    self._parser.Parse("", 1) # end of data
xml.parsers.expat.ExpatError: no element found: line 1, column 0

This is fully reproducable. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
