Message Ummm.... no. The real solution, which we'll be implementing in CVS
soon and in future releases, is to use a logfile of
/var/log/current.log. We will not be changing permissions on any
pre-existing directories. Ever.

Message Hi,

I just explored that apache on RedHat comes with directory
/var/log/httpd/ 0700 root.root

and if we use logfile
/var/log/httpd/current.log 0644 apache,apache

it will not work, I think.

Solution is to add to postin script lines
chgrp apache /var/log/httpd
chmod g+rwx /var/log/httpd

or insert this line to %files section in rpm .spec file
%attr(0750,apache,apache) %{_localstatedir}/log/httpd/
(hope this will work)

Experienced users can do it after installation by himself,
but some beginers may have big troubles with this deal.

Petr
